Community
Activities
We encourage you to participate in our popular North Rosedale Park
community activities!
JUNE DAY
If you attend one function
all year, it should be June Day. It's for kids, but the age limit for kids
is waived for the day. This 70 year tradition has a parade, fun run,
midway, field games, pony rides, prizes, food, music and fun for all tied
around an annual theme. Twelve hours of activities
for the entire family.
STEAK
(and Salmon)
ROAST
This
"end-of-summer" party is traditionally held at the Community
House on the Friday following Labor Day. There is a basic menu of fish
(salmon) or
steak with an evening of conversation, dancing and neighborhood
togetherness. (The 40 seconds of positive Detroit image shown on
"Prime Time Live" was our Steak Roast!) The good thing about the
steak roast is that if you don't like the food preparation, you get to do
it the following year. By the way, this year's chairpersons are:
MOTHERS
DAY BREAKFAST
The
annual Mothers Day Breakfast is prepared and served by male volunteers in
the community. This well-attended event is an opportunity to honor
mothers, to partake in a community type meal and to display the culinary
abilities of the husbands and sons. This inexpensive breakfast is served
from 9AM to 1PM on, of course, Mothers Day.
CHRISTMAS
BREAKFAST
The
annual Christmas Breakfast always proves to be one of the season's more
anticipated traditions. It's held in early December at the Community House
and features a full breakfast of some of your favorite cholesterol filled
foods. There is a medley of Christmas carols and, of course, a visit from
Santa to hear the wish lists of all the youngsters.
EASTER
EGG HUNT
Bring
your little bunnies to the annual Easter Egg Hunt on the Saturday before
Easter.
GARAGE SALE
Twice a year (May and September) we take
our resalable treasures to the Community House for the Garage Sale. Tables
and spaces ($10-15) are sold for this six hour, Sunday extravaganza. You
must pre-register. For details see
SPRING CONCERT
A great opportunity to enjoy live music and good friends
and help raise a few dollars for the Civic Association.
SPRING AND FALL RAFFLE
One month in the spring and one month in
the fall you can help out the Civic Association and perhaps win some money
yourself. It works like
this: You buy a three digit
number for $10. If its Michigan Lottery number hits any day during the month
you win $100. If one number either side of yours hits you win $25.
ELECTION
NIGHT POTLUCK
The
year starts off with this great excuse to break all your new year's
resolutions. Bring a dish, vote for your new board members, and eat, drink
and dance into the night. It's the best free party you'll ever attend.
NEW
MEMBERS DINNER
The
first year of membership in NRPCA entitles you to a terrific meal at the
Community House. You'll have a chance to meet your new neighbors and
become acquainted with the numerous events and activities in North
Rosedale. The dinner is usually held in October.
FLOWER
SALE
Save
yourself a trip to Eastern Market by picking up your flowers at the
Community House in mid-May. The April Tattler has an order form and
Members receive a discount.
CHRISTMAS
LIGHTING
Drive
around the Park at Christmas time and you'll see some blocks that take
Christmas decorations very seriously. That's because there's a contest
each year for best lighting that has caused an ever escalating struggle
for decorating supremacy. There are many categories so it's a wonder
everyone can't win. Judging is by a secret, elite and unidentified group.
